This year we are taking part in Paired Science with the TY students in Ard Scoil na Mara, in conjunction with Calmast and WIT. Over the course of six weeks we worked with our TY partners to research the effects of MS on the immune system. We got to know the names of the different body parts and the effects MS has on them. Cordula from CALMAST paid us a visit one day and explained about lab safety.
Last Wednesday we went into the Tower Hotel along with 400 other students involved in Paired Science. There we met the producers of the drug developed by SANOFI for the treatment of MS. We met MS sufferers and were presented with our certificates.
Our last session was where we got to carry out a variety of experiments in the science labs in Ard Scoil. We tested for acids and bases, sugars and starch, explored the expansion of solids and how to produce static electricity. See us in action below.
